Why is regular cleaning important?
Daily use causes bacteria and germs to enter the bottle, especially through contact with the mouth and drink residues. These can multiply and lead to unpleasant odours or even mould. Regular and thorough cleaning prevents this and ensures a fresh taste.
Daily cleaning after use
- Rinse with warm water: After each use, rinse the bottle with warm water to remove any residue.
- Use mild detergent: Add a few drops of mild detergent, shake well and then rinse thoroughly.
- Use a bottle brush: For hard-to-reach areas, use a Bottle Brush with soft bristles to remove deposits.
Weekly deep cleaning
- Vinegar or citric acid: Pour a mixture of water and vinegar or lemon juice into the bottle, leave to work for a few hours and then rinse thoroughly.
- Baking powder or bicarbonate of soda: Add two tablespoons of baking powder or bicarbonate of soda to the bottle with hot water, shake and leave overnight without the lid. Rinse thoroughly the next day.
- Rice method: Add a handful of rice to the bottle with warm water, shake vigorously to mechanically loosen deposits, then rinse.
Cleaning the lid and seals
- Disassembly: Take the lid apart to make all areas accessible.
- Cleaning: Clean with warm water and mild washing-up liquid. A small brush helps with hard-to-reach areas.
- Seals: Clean rubber and silicone seals separately and take care not to damage them.
Drying and storage
- Thorough drying: After cleaning, allow the bottle and all parts to air dry completely to prevent mould growth.
- Open storage: Store the bottle with the lid open to allow any residual moisture to escape.
What to avoid
- Harsh cleaning agents: Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals as they can damage the surface.
- Scouring pads: Do not use abrasive sponges or steel wool to avoid scratches.
- Closed storage: Do not store the bottle closed when it is still damp, as this can promote mould growth.
