Baking in the run-up to Christmas is especially fun! It's simply part of getting in the mood for the festivities and adds to the anticipation. These muffins are irresistible. They are wonderfully moist, fluffy and filled with great flavours. Just the scent of the Christmas spices and orange zest that wafts towards you when you open the oven will enchant your senses. 125 g butter, soft
70 g brown sugar
1 Pack(s) vanilla sugar
2 eggs
200 g wheat flour
1 Teaspoon(s) baking powder
1 Teaspoon(s) cinnamon, ground
1 Teaspoon(s) ginger, ground
0.5 Teaspoon(s) cardamom, ground
1 Knife tip(s) cloves, ground
2 Teaspoon(s) orange zest
50 ml cream
2 Tablespoon(s) milk
1 Tablespoon(s) honey
12 Teaspoon(s) orange marmelade

Bake the muffins

Preheat the oven to 180°C top/bottom heat. Cream the butter with the sugar and vanilla sugar. Gradually add the eggs and beat until creamy. Mix the flour with the baking powder and the individual spices and add to the mixture.

Stir the orange zest, milk and honey into the batter. Whip the cream and gradually fold into the batter.

Fill the muffin tins one third full with batter. Then, using a teaspoon, carefully place some orange fruit spread in the centre of the tin and then fill the tin with batter. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie. Grate some zest from the organic orange. After baking/cooling, pour some liquid chocolate onto the muffins and decorate with the zests.
