Description
Are normal hot dog buns too boring for you? Or do you just want to try something different? Here you go: Hot dog buns with tomato flavour. Our recipe uses vegan milk, so you can also enjoy a feast if you don't want to eat animal food.

Zutaten für

For the dough

200 ml vegan milk
1 Teaspoon(s) dry yeast
20 g sugar
290 g wheat flour
2 Tablespoon(s) tomato paste
1 Tablespoon(s) balsamic vinegar
1 Teaspoon(s) salt
15 g vegan butter/margarine

Preparation

  • Total time: 2 h

Bake the buns

1
Warm the vegan milk slightly, keeping a small sip for brushing the buns later. Stir in the sugar and yeast and leave for a few minutes.
2
First add flour, then salt and finally the vegan butter as well as tomato paste and vinegar, stirring intensively for several minutes until a smooth dough is formed.
3
Leave the dough to rise for 60 minutes, then cut into even portions according to the desired size: For the XL hot dog bun shape (5 buns per mat) the dough balls should weigh about 100 g and for the L hot dog bun shape (6 buns per mat) the weight should be about 85 g.
4
Shape the dough balls into elongated, flat patties, place them in their respective moulds and let them rise there again for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°C top/bottom heat.
5
Brush the risen buns with the remaining vegan milk and bake for 20 minutes.
