Description
It's hot dog time! The only thing missing from your vegan sausage is the matching bun. And that should be vegan, too, of course. And above all, homemade! No problem at all for you, because you certainly have the ingredients at hand. Vegan milk and butter, yeast, sugar, flour and salt - everything is easy to mix. Now put them in the oven and out come fluffy buns that are just waiting to be filled.

Zutaten für

For the dough

200 ml vegan milk
1 Teaspoon(s) dry yeast
20 g sugar
270 g wheat flour, type 550
1 Teaspoon(s) salt
15 g vegan butter/margarine

Preparation

  • Total time: 2 h

Bake the buns

1
Warm the vegan milk slightly, keeping a small sip for brushing the buns later. Stir in the sugar and yeast and leave for a few minutes.
2
First add flour, then salt and finally the vegan butter, stirring and kneading intensively for several minutes until a smooth dough is formed.
3
Leave the dough to rise for 60 minutes, then cut into even portions according to the desired size: For the XL hot dog bun shape (5 buns per mat) the dough balls should weigh about 100 g and for the L hot dog bun shape (6 buns per mat) the weight should be about 85 g.
4
Shape the dough balls into elongated, flat patties, place them in their respective moulds and let them rise there again for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°C top/bottom heat.
5
Brush the risen buns with the remaining vegan milk and bake for 20 minutes.
